Tehran: Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of Iran's parliament, has made a significant statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Ghalibaf stated that the pre-war status quo would not return to the Strait of Hormuz. He asserted that if Iran's security is not guaranteed, no critical infrastructure in the region will remain safe. He further added that security in the Strait of Hormuz is only possible if US military forces are not present in the area.
He went on to warn, "If we cannot sell our oil in a region, no one else will be able to sell oil there either." This statement from Iran is being viewed as a stern message regarding energy supplies and global maritime trade in the Strait of Hormuz.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has once again issued a direct threat to Iran. Trump stated that if Iran attacks any vessel passing through the Strait of Hormuz, the US will target Iran's infrastructure.
In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump stated that the US would retaliate if Iran attacked any commercial or military vessel in Hormuz. He said that the US would respond regardless of the type of weapon used in the attack. Trump warned, "From now on, whenever the Islamic Republic of Iran attacks a ship in the Strait of Hormuz with missiles, rockets, drones, or any other device or weapon, the US will blow up and destroy a bridge or a power plant."
He added that these targets would include bridges and power plants located within or around the capital, Tehran. Tensions in the region are expected to escalate further following this warning from Trump. This threat comes at a time when tensions between the US and Iran are steadily rising. The US military conducted a military operation against Iran for the eleventh consecutive night. According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the latest strikes, which took place late Tuesday night, lasted for approximately 75 minutes.
